CloudU Notebooks is a weekly blog series that explores topics from the CloudU certificate program in bite sized chunks, written by me, Ben Kepes, curator of CloudU.  How-to’s, interviews with industry giants, and the occasional opinion piece are what you can expect to find.  If that’s your cup of tea, you can subscribe here.

Ever since launching the CloudU certificate a few weeks ago I’ve had a daily stream of emails from people just reaching out to say that they’ve enjoyed and gained a lot from the program. It’s the sort of validation that really means a lot. Today’s should out goes to Glen Roberts from Austin who sent me this amazing email;

One day, I started researching all the major tech companies and to see what they were doing to advance cloud computing technologies. I thought it would be easy to find something new but all I kept finding was a lot of high-level marketing literature. Then I started searching specifically for any cloud computing education offerings available from these same tech firms. What I found in my research is that there are only a few major tech companies in a position to offer an innovative cloud computing solution at all, much less have a certification program around it.
When I stumbled across Cloud University site at Rackspace Hosting, I was instantly amazed by the high quality of the material. The practical cloud computing guidance and examples cited in each of the lesson guides really helps solidify a subject too often discussed in abstract terms only. The fact that one gets a CloudU Certificate at the end of the program is icing on the cake! I thoroughly enjoyed each of the ten lessons and learned a lot in the process.
The CloudU Certificate program is the best certification out there for cloud computing fundamentals. I just want to say a big “Thank you!” to Ben Kepes for creating Cloud University and making a lasting contribution to the cloud computing profession with his high-quality training materials.

That’s the sort of response that make me realize just how worthwhile what we’re doing actually is. Thanks for the feedback Glen, hopefully I’ll meet you in person soon!
