An enterprising (although somewhat less than innovative) trio have attempted to replicate the NZ success of TradeMe in Morocco of all places. The site is uncomfortable similar to TradeMe’s layout, but I’m sure th TM gang are remembering that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.

The Moroccan site originators have gone down the free listing path in order to build momentum, after which they hope to be able to start charging for listings (a la TradeMe).

The proof of pudding is in the eating but I’m yet to be convinced that in the online auction space a witch from free to charged listings is a palatable change for the customer base.

Still best of luck and we’ll watch developments with interest…
