I follow reasonably closely the number of visitors to my blog – I average around 100 visits a day which isn’t bad considering the subject matter is both eclectic and obscure. From comments I’ve received I seem to have attracted a small but loyal following and, considering I do this entirely for fun, that’s fine by me.

It is interesting to track though the weekly variations in visits. There is an interesting and repeating theme of  low visit numbers on the weekends and relatively high number mid week.

This would suggest to me that, despite all the protestations that web 2.0 will make us all online, available and ready for pushed information 24/7, the actuality is still much more in keeping with the 9-5, Monday to Friday of old.

How do people out there work the blog consumption? Is it a few minutes at the start of our work day or is it something you come back to regularly throughout the day and throughout the week?

In the bigger picture, these trends and ways of working are important to know bout, especially if you’re looking to introduce a product pitched within the web x.0 space.

  • I very rarely log in during the weekends. I’ve got 2 kids under 2 so my time with them is valuable to me. Typically i check my mail and RSS reader first thing and do my blogging and blog reading then
