After a recent Forbes post, I was asked to appear on SDRNews to talk about my view on why Google needs to get more serious about its commitment to its cloud infrastructure customers.

Here’s the interview in its entirety – enjoy!

  • Well, isn’t this the perennial “complaint” about Google by the people who “know” what enterprise IT wants or think they do? So what’s not serious about Google operating IT services that support 350M users on a daily basis? Google has approx 900K servers in 12 data centers delivering IT services to around the Earth to a spectrum of users from very small to very large. I think it is a stretch to conclude that Google doesn’t understand the needs of enterprise IT because an analyst didn’t like the answer he got from a Google service manager. If anything, Google seems to be doing better in this regard with their renewed interest in taking on AWS. As for Google Reader, just give up on that one…really.

  • Seems to me that Tim Wessels has it about right
