With a hat tip to Jim, here is a pretty interesting post from Cringely with, what he sees as a possible scenario vis a viz google and the 700MHz spectrum.

Think giant high speed wireless mesh networks at a lower cost than traditional ISP’s and (of course) able to transmit stuff from the Google phone (and iPhone).

Google are smart, some of the smartest business people on earth, Steve “Apple” Jobs is smart too but he lets malice sometimes enter the equation. Google are smart, calculated and committed.

There is going to be some seriously exciting stuff happening in te next 18 months, watch this space….

    Well, not all that Google touches turns to gold. Google video just died. They didn’t invent facebook or blogs, and a bunch of Google services just didn’t take off, despite a huge infrastructure and lots of phds.

    But yes, some of it is bound to be compelling …
