The banks and the IRD….

It seems the IRD is accusing several New Zealand trading banks of a NZD2bill rort.

Thoughts;

  • Hearing some of Dave Henderson’s experiences I’m glad I’m not on the legal team for the banks
  • Again with respect to above, great to hear they’re targeting someone other than small businesses
  • At the end of the day we, as customers, will pay for this

I’m not saying the IRD shouldn’t chase money from evasion cases, just that public policy issues should be taken into account rather than pure internal revenue ones…
