I’m feeling a little curmudgeonly this morning so it’s time for a bit of a moan. I like my Nokia E61 super phone. I also like using Google Calendar and under duress use Outlook (and mainly because there is no native sync between Google cal and the phone).

I’m using SyncMyCal to sync Google to Outlook and then use Nokia’s suite to sync from Outlook to phone.

So – a question… why on earth has someone not thought of syncing all data – not just calendar entries but also timezone settings? Nokia hasn’t caught up with NZ’s daylight savings time changes yet (fair enough, it happened six months ago and the homing pidgeons have trouble flying in the cold of Finland) so all the calendar entries on my phone are exacly one hour out from those on both Outlook and Google.

No before you ask, resetting the time zone or actual time on the phone doesn’t work. I know that in two weeks time once daylight savings ends it’s work again but that’s not the point – this stuff should just work!

Right – that’s my rant over now….
