Seth Finklestein (what a great name) editorialised about the government’s encroachment into personal space viz a vis using IP information gathered from internet companies to track individuals performing activities not in keeping with said government’s wishes.

Seth concludes with this quote;

The price of total personalisation is total surveillance.

I agree – and it’s in keeping with recent discussions I have had with people around the place who have somewhat conspiracist views of Google and it’s alleged CIA links. I want my net experience to be totally contextual and personalised – if I have to forego some privacy to achieve that then it is a sacrifice I am prepared to make.
