I’ve previously held up Cloud Sherpas as a smart player in the cloud ecosystem area. They’re both a reseller of, and a contributor to, Google apps via their service offering and their product, SherpaTools. Today they’re continuing their expansion by announcing the acquisition of Omnetic, a West Coast Google Apps reseller. In doing so they not only get footprint in the reseller space, but they pick up marquee customers like National geographic, Dr Martens and Mazda raceway.
Cloud Sherpas already holds the largest Google Apps practice in the world – with offices in Atlanta, Washington DC, Austin, New York and Philadelphia, the addition of Omnetic build their West Coast presence – especially important given that the West Coast is the home of Google themselves.
Reselling of Cloud solutions is a fast growth area – Cloud Sherpas themselves enjoyed 600% revenue growth last year – there is a large addressable market of people wanting to move to Cloud solutions – Cloud Sherpas themselves have migrated over 80000 users to Google apps in only three years. While the revenue enjoyed from ach customer is tiny, done at scale, reselling can be a lucrative business.
In an interesting twist for those who watch the SaaS space closely, Founder and CEO of Omnetic, Chris McGarry is previously led Salesforce.com’s deployment of Google Apps and was a member of the team that built the native product integration between Salesforce.com and Google Apps.
Cloud Sherpas are rapidly building an impressive practice around Google Apps reselling, I wonder if that ill extend out into other applications some time soon.
