I like Google apps but I’m aware that within an enterprise setting it’s deployment means the IT department needs to get involved in setting users up.
Now with Google apps team edition, anyone with an email address from the same domain (ie anything after the “@”, can share documents, Google Talk and calendars, allowing great collaborative document production, messaging and time management.
It’s a great approach from the Googleplex – to increase the uptake of Google applications within enterprise (while keeping within the political parameters of IT departments).
It’s not a death-knell for installed office productivity apps, but is yet another nail in the coffin

I’m finding my way around Google Documents at present and using it to collaborate on something my Dad and I are working on. It’s handy and secure and suitable for non-urgent exchange of content.
It is just another tool in the arsenal. I’m agnostic on who the provider is, although I hold some strong views on where the Google vs MS battle might be headed.
