There have been some interesting discussions recently over whether email (well email applications anyway) have any relevance still.

The enterprise camp says a resounding yes – seeing the email app as the centre of an aggregation of disparate uses – PIM, contacts, email etc.

The tech crowd say no – seeing email as old school, replaced by something,,, Gmail perhaps.

Now into the fray news that Mozilla is spinning off a unit that will solely develop a next generation email and communications initiative.

The mozilla bunch are pretty visionary and it’ll be interesting to see what they come up with….
