  • Why do people with nothing to say insist on broadcasting it to the world? And people we can really learn off (like a few serious dot com players in NZ I know of) keep a low profile and aren’t vocal?

I know that’s not the rule as some talented people are vocal, but there’s also some very talented people in NZ succeeding in a very big way on the global scene that wouldn’t go near the likes of Twitter, blogs etc… Maybe they know something… like Twitter can be a time waster? or maybe they’re just…. working hard and focusing?

Also, why is it that we don’t like people Twittering who have nothing to say, but yet we’ll follow the nonsensical ramblings of influential industry players?

Is is just that the ‘nothings’ from the mouths of influencers and industry names is just more interesting to us.

If some kid in Auckland says “Getting food from the fridge” we moan, yet we’ll happily listen to Steve Jobs saying “Getting food from the fridge” – in fact we’ll ‘wonder’ what he’s eating and aspire to one day having a fridge like his… 🙂

Twitter = communication and networking, but does it take the PURPOSE and SENSE out of communication and networking?

Food for thought… “From my fridge” ha ha

  • I’m sure there is a certain correlation between being really busy and not (micro-)blogging, but I’d say the correlation would be just as strong with being above a certain age, and being an introvert. So if you’ve got a busy introvert who’s over 40, you’re probably not going to see them joining the twitter mob any time soon. Personally I’m a busy introvert under 35 (just) and although I’ve got a profile on just about every major social network there is, that’s mostly to satisfy my professional curiosity, claim my favorite screen-name before anyone else does, and in some places, to keep an eye on my increasingly scattered friends, some of who actually post stuff. My own posting rate on any of said networks is somewhere between abysmal and non-existent. I keep telling myself I’ll improve on that, but never seems to happen.
