I noticed over on the Local generation blog that the owner of the Naseby Hotel in Central Otago, New Zealand has found a novel way to oppose a planned windfarm in his area.
He has engaged a team of climate change sceptics to argue that, since global warming isn’t actually happening, the planned windfarm is unnecessary (the logic being that if greenhouse gases aren’t a problem we should just build more coal fired power plants to fuel our increasing energy needs).
As Andrew comments;
Trying to overturn the mountain of climate physics that backs up the case for man-made global warming has got to be a major gamble for the hotelier. What will the environment court make of it? Is it even within their remit to consider it?
And then, even if they (the skeptics) do make their case, that hardly undermines the entire project. After all we do build windfarms primarily to make electricity, not just to be seen to be combating global warming.
It never ceases to amaze me that in a country that purports to be clean and green, we would come up against this level of denial and pig headedness. Cleantech projects are the way of the future – for many different reasons, climate change being only one of those – any project with the multitude of beneficial outcomes that a windfarm has should be applauded

Oh! Mountain of climate physics? No, there is mountain of mathematical physics that doesn’t support the actual physics (observations) and there is a difference between the two. Anyway, I am a skeptic , but my opinion is also based on Physics (peer review publication in climate science).
