In the SST this morning was a piece on recent graduate of the Icehouse, BlackHawk tracking systems. They seem to be an example of what sort of business we should be aspiring to create in NZ.

Basically the BlackHawk system allows mobile phone tracking and immobilisation of a vehicle. In this respect it is smart, but only a little bit smarted than the other car security products available on the market.

Where they will however be able to create a differentiated product, and thereby ensure competitiveness in a difficult market against lower priced competitors, is by partnering with insurance companies to gain rebates for car owners who use their system.

End result could be (over a period of a few years) no real cost for the system to the consumer, less paying out for the insurers, and an increased market presence for BlackHawk

Value add all the way!

Well done guys and all the best!
