Adobe buys Buzzword a pre-full release flash based word processor.

As Rod mentioned in his blog, the office 2.0 space is pretty open, Google docs lacks the functionality that real users require and Zoho isn’t quite up to speed yet. It is interesting that it’s Adobe acquiring the startup – yet another layer in the 2.0 race. MS has just announced Office live workspaces but it is a crippled view, share and store only (ie not edit) product.

And yes, as Rod so rightly puts it, there is absolutely no reason that buzzword couldn’t have happened from New Zealand. The problems we need to deal with in order to build a sustainable and profitable (and domestically retained) technology industry here will be the subject of the next NZX magazine. I’m writing a piece for it – I’ll post when it comes out
