Zoho, long known as the office productivity SaaS vendor with the fullest featured product offering, has this morning released Zoho People, a robust On-Demand HRMS – Human Resources Management System.
People targets HR teams within organisations with over 50 employees and includes the following modules;

  • The Organisation Definition Module to define and draw the organisational structure
  • The Recruitment Module manages the recruitment process and catalogues resumes on file
  • The Forms Module provides organisation-standard forms – expense claim, travel, leave request etc
    The Check-list Module provides a logic flow for a process. Zoho’s example was that a new hire would have a defined set of tasks (induction, asset procurement, health plan etc etc) check-list would manage these requirements
  • The Self-Service Module lets employees and managers define and update their personal information

As Zoli has mentioned,  people is targeted at larger organisations than the other Zoho offerings. Possibly it is a strategy for gaining a foothold in the enterprise space (and having the other apps accepted on a de facto basis) or possibly it is a simple foray into another area, not currently provided by SaaS vendors. Either way it’s a gutsy moves and ups the ante for SaaSvendors.
