ZDNet reports that the EU is pushing for computers to be sold sans an operating system in order to “foster competition”.
You read it here – computers should not need an OS at all. Seeing a huge proportion (and growing) of what we do with a computer is web based – let’s just ditch OS’s and instead use Augmented Web Browsers to fulfil both functions.
Its a big big project for sure but one that a big player is capable of (anyone got Eric Schmidts DDI? – I might give him a call……)
