In a couple of weeks I’ll be in Auckland as a guest of Provoke. They’ve asked me to come up and take part in a session entitled “The Cloud – IT Evolution or Business Revolution”.

It’s a topic near to my heart – we’ve all heard people banging on about how cloud isn’t news – we had ASP before they say, but virtualization isn’t new they whine, it’s just a bureau service renames they drone. Of course I disagree – take a few technical features (virtualization, web delivery, API enablement, ubiquitous connectivity) add some new business models (utility pricing, self-service, fine-grained metering) and you have a shift that is (in my view) unarguable revolutionary.

Anyway – I’m looking forward to the event – would be awesome to see some folks along so if you’re in Auckland on the 7th of November – don’t be a stranger, register here.
